Fill in the Blank Friday

Well it's been a while and since I have some free time I figured I would start back to blogging and documenting each moment while Shane and I are together! What better way to start back with Fill in the blank Friday!!

1. I like actually I LOVE the fact that I can listen to Christmas music this year without crying! Last year and the year before and the year before that, Shane was away with the navy! This year will be AMAZING!! We will be able to spend it together and hopefully with family in the south!!

2. A life goal of mine is  to have a home with my husband and future babies, in the south! With friends and family just a short drive down the road!!

3. The last thing you would ever expect me to like (even though I secretly do) is to ride the Harley with my husband! No I am not a biker chic...and sometimes it scares me...but I love that time I get with him and the scenery and the smells of the great outdoors!

4. Some wise words that I love are  "Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own." Matthew 6:34

5. Most mornings you will find me If i'm not working, I wake up and make my husband breakfast. Then after he leaves for work, I take a nap....don't tell him! haha!

6. Right now I am super into Sweet tea! I have tried to make it a little better for you by adding honey...but there's nothing better than pure sugar!!! That's probably why I haven't lost any weight!! 

7. Right now I am super over being broke!! I am so ready to get my first paycheck!!

 

Have a great weekend!! Shane has duty tomorrow then on Sunday we are headed to the Battle on the Midway!!! Last year we were so lucky to be able to go to the Carrier Classic where we saw celebrities and even the President! And we also made a cameo on the small screen!! So make sure you look for us!! Silver lining....

Just need to vent for a minute....pardon me...

I have been so down in the dumps lately!! It's just been awful! I had the best weekend with some of my best friends and still...down in the dumps. REWIND to late last Thursday, Shane called me around 11:45pm....it's in the AM for him so he didn't think anything of it. So I was thinking it'd be like any other phone call that I have gotten from him. I knew that they were getting close to port in Bahrain and he should be excited about that! They had been on the ship for about 30 days straight!

I could tell something was wrong with him. So I tried to lighten the mood and remind him that Tuesday (tomorrow) the 7th is 2 months down in this deployment! And I still got a Debbie downer response....then he throws in the...yea, 2 months down...and ___ to go!!! (cannot say! gotta keep my sailor safe!) And well lets just say it isn't the same date as I expected! It's actually about 2+ months more than expected! My first response is ANGER! I was soo mad! At first I was mad at him for the way he told me then I was just mad period at what was going on!! Why?? Why do you need my husband?!? Why does his ship, out of 100s of other ships, need to stay in that area longer??? It just doesn't make sense!!! I hate that you cannot depend on our own military...I hate that I cannot plan a "surprise getaway" for him and I once he gets home bc I do not have a stable date....I hate that I cannot simply buy a flight back to California before he gets home bc I don't even know a specific date to go back and I don't want to be stuck out there by myself for too long before he returns....UGH!!!!

He is my husband and I want him with me!! I want to have a for sure date to countdown to! I want to hug him/feel him next to me/have dinner with him/I even want him with me to annoy me and me do the same to him! haha! He is my best friend!!!

Shane warned me of this! He told me that they would more than likely be extended...but my thought on an extension was, "ok...2 more weeks, I can do this!" Not 2 more months!

After my yelling spree and getting upset with him, there was no way that I could fall right to sleep...so I tossed and turned all night. I felt terrible for getting mad at him! He doesn't want to be on that ship! So why am I getting upset with him! Oh terrible me!!!

He called me the next night to check on me and talk to me a little more about this extension. And he reassured me...that this year was going to be great! Even though they are extended for 2+ months, they will change the deployment schedule for the rest of the year! And we just might...be able to have a Christmas together this year! AHHHHH!!! I want to be excited! But at the same time I'm scared to! Scared to death to plan on something then it change!

As for now, I am planning on being able to be with my husband for our first Christmas together in 3 years!!! YAY!!! Our first since being married! So there is my silver lining and me being positive about this sucky situation!
I know that the Lord has something planned for us! And I pray it involves Shane and Mackenzie McKay enjoying a lot of time together this year! Once my love returns home to me!

If you will just keep my husband and the other sailors in your thoughts and prayers as they have to stick out this deployment without their friends and family by there sides! Pray for safety bc they are in a very scary area right now!

Oh yea! After this rough weekend, I got to Skype with my love for about an hour yesterday!! Which made my day!! Made my month/YEAR so far! I haven't seen him in soo long!!

My precious husband!!! MAN OH MAN!! I miss him!! So close yet so far AWAY!! ahh!

While he was in Bahrain we were able to chat a little through Viber and he sent me a few pics of him and some places they went to....This is where he stayed while off the ship! SOO JEALOUS!! And soo happy for him! He is able to see the world!! But I know he misses his favorite traveling buddy! lol.

He said it was cold, so I'm not too jealous of the chilly weather but that view is beautiful!

I am so thankful for such an awesome husband! I'm so proud of him!

I cannot wait to be able to hug this boy again! You mean soo much to me Shane McKay!! Stay safe and hurry home to me!!!

1. My favorite place I've ever traveled to is Australia! I love everything about that wonderful place! The people, the beaches, the food, the weather, the breathtaking sites, driving on the wrong side of the road! HA!

 I hope I can take Shane one day!!

2. Bora Bora is somewhere I'd love to go someday.

3. I pass the time on a plane(or bus, or car ride, or train) by listening to music and sleeping! I can fall asleep so fast on a plane! When I flew home in December I was asleep before we took off! I think I have a problem! haha!

4. My three must-haves when I travel are my make-up, my iPhone, and my pillow!

5. My favorite travel companion is Of course my favorite person - Shane McKay, but when he is gone on deployment, Mom is always a close second.

6. The craziest thing that ever happened to me while traveling is this isn't too crazy but I'll never forget when my cousin, my mom and myself flew to Australia. My cousin is ab a month younger than me and he is straight up Redneck, (I can say that bc my husband is one!) anyways, while we were taking off from LA to Sydney, my cousin decides to yell, "YEE HAWWWW!!!!!" I will never forget how red my face got and the STARES! from everyone!! Goodness gracious I was so embarrassed but it was hilarious and he decided to continue yelling "yee haww" on every flight after that!

7. The most exotic food I've ever tried while traveling is Relating back to Australia...while in Australia we went to one of my aunts friends house, they were having a BBQ{throwin some shrimp on da barbi...} and what I thought was a steak...was a steak, but not from a cow....It was KANGAROO!!!!  I knew it was a little tough to be a steak but it was still good! More like deer meat. I doubt that I will ever eat that again, tho!

8. If I could live anywhere else, I'd live in Flagstaff, AZ or anywhere in TN. Since living in San Diego it makes you realize - There's no place like home! If you ever get to drive to the west, stop in Flagstaff, AZ. I love this place!!

9. I have been to 23 states in the U.S.

I have been looking for some new shoes for about 3 weeks now!

Shane bought me some Merrells in March and they are GREAT but I cannot run/workout in them! So i got these yesterday!! YAY!!!

I love them! They are so light and comfy and I cannot wait to start working out in them! :)

One of my favorite songs! It's crazy how a song can make you feel better and this song always makes me smile! Reminds me of my cute husband! :)

what.I'm.loving.wednesday.

I am loving that I (re)joined ATC fitness and will be getting back into shape before Shane gets home from deployment!! I believe every military wife goes through this while their husbands are away!

I am loving that one of my best friends Valerie is also a member of the gym and we will be able to see each other at least 4 times a week!! She is going to help me get in shape! She has done so well!! Great motivation!! Love you Val!!

I actually have a few friends that are members and they will def keep me motivated and I cannot wait to workout with them!!

I am loving this Primer! My Mother in law gave this to me for Christmas and I have been using it daily! I love it!!

I am loving this app Viber!

Shane was just in Thailand for the weekend and he was able to stay in a hotel that offered WiFi and while he was there we turned on the Viber and text each other and was even able to talk on the phone for at least an hour a day! FOR FREE!!!!!!

And...he was able to send me some pictures through Viber!

It is one awesome app! You must have a smart phone and WiFi to get it!

I loved being able to pick up the phone and just send him a text whenever I felt like it!

However, they are now on there way to the next port and I can't talk to him for a little while! But I cannot wait until he gets to the next destination!!

So thankful for technology!!

I am LOVING....that I can finally announce that I am going to be an AUNT again!!!!

This sweet girl is going to be a big sister!!!

1. One of my favorite things to do when I have free time is be with my family! Or just be lazy!!!

2. When I have free time I tend to  check my email, get caught up on laundry....check up on the blogs, try new recipes!

3. If I had an entire day completely to myself I would  wake up, watch the today show! and here lately, miss my husband! :(

4. I would prefer to spend my free time (alone or with others...)    i love having alone time, don't get me wrong, but i would def. prefer to be with others(my husband everyday!!!)

5. Most of my free time happens    I hardly ever have free time anymore! My family has been keeping me busy since I've been home! But Sundays are my usual free days!

6. The best thing about free time is    You have no plans!! Which sounds good to me! Time to take it easy and RELAX!!!.

7. The next time I have free time I should probably    go through my clothes and quit living out of my suitcase  but instead, I'll probably get on my computer & read blogs/browse Pinterest/check facebook. haha!

Happy Birthday!!

Today is my sweet cousin, Emma's birthday!!

She is 17 today! SEVENTEEN!!

I cannot believe how grown she is!

I am 8 years older than her and have watched her grow up...from a wittle baby with precious curls to a beautiful young woman!!!

My aunt and her kids live in New South Wales, Australia and have been living there since 2003. They get to come home for Christmas every 2 years! So I am soo happy that they are home!! Especially while Shane is deployed! They have def. kept me busy!!

I got her a special treat from GiGi's cupcakes this afternoon after work and forgot to take a pic of the beautiful and delicious cupcakes!

But here she is blowing out her candles!

What I'm loving Wednesday!

Well I'm back!! I have been MIA for awhile and I will get caught up eventually! I have missed blogging!!
I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and New Year!!

I am loving that this week makes it one month down on this deployment!! I'm not able to discuss how long Shane will be deployed but I can definately countdown!!

Being apart is so hard! And it never gets easier! You can't do anything about it... but pray and get excited for that wonderful homecoming!!! 

Enough of the sappy stuff!....

I am loving my new watch that I got for Christmas!!

I did get a Rose colored one but it didn't go well with my pale skin...so I had to take it back! And got this one instead!

I spent NYE weekend at my aunts house in Arkansas with my family and we had a blast!!

I'm loving that my niece was with us the whole time!

We may have had a few photo shoots!

She is the cutest little girl ever!

I am so thankful that I am Kyleighs aunt!!

After the whole weekend with this precious child, I have decided that Shane and I should wait a few years for children! hahah! I'm not kidding!

While we were in Searcy, AR we did a little shopping...of course and...

I am Loving...my new Toms!

Ok...they are youth Toms but I love the rubber soles and how much more comfortable they are than the adult ones!

Plus they are $16 cheaper than the adults! I just was happy that I could fit my big ol foot in them!!

Oh yea...I got a wonderful Christmas present from my parents/grandparents/Shane....

I have always wanted to take up photography and this will def. help me get my hobby started!

I am also LOVING that I am able to be home (TN) for the next few months! I'm sure I'd be fine but staying in San Diego by myself would've been miserable without Shane!

It has been way too long and I need to get back on the blog train!
Last week I had some visitors!! And we had a blast!!!
Shane has been gone for about 2 weeks prior to them coming and I was soo ready to see some familiar faces!
Soo thankful that my mom was able to come spend 10 days with me! Then Valerie and her mom came for about 7 days! It was amazing!!

We had dinner one night downtown at Kansas City bbq and got stuck (in the rain)at the cross walk, waiting for a train to pass...Photoshoot...haha

We had delicious cupcakes by the shore!!

It's time to fill in the blanks!

4. Friday - Sunday... is my favorite day of the week.

5. Something totally dumb and ridiculous that I love is Reality tv...I know it's stupid and my husband thinks I'm crazy!

6. If I could, I would hide my husband and keep him from going on deployments or just simply going out to sea!!
He is about to leave for 1 month then turn around and leave again for a few weeks....then leaves for a 5 month deployment! I hate it and wish he didn't have to leave me! :(
7. I'd rather stay at home and not have to work....

Chocolate Delight Truffles!

These are the easiest things to make! As long as you have a little time!

Ingredients:

1 Box of Brownie mix

2 cups semisweet choc chips

1/2 cup + Peanut Butter

and Parchment paper or wax paper

Follow directions on brownie mix and bake as instructed. I added 1/2 cup of choc chips to the mix to make the brownies even more chocolately!

You want the Brownies cooked but not completely! Still slightly gooey if that makes any sense.

After cooking brownies let them cool until they are a good temp to touch.

(About 20 minutes)

Ready to get yo hands dirty??...

Use a medium size scoop or your tablespoon measuring cup to scoop out brownie mix. Then roll brownie into a ball and place on cookie pan lined with parchment paper.

(I avoided the edges of the brownies so you wouldn't randomly have a crunchy texture in your ball. Plus it's one of the best parts of the brownie! Save it and eat while you wait on the truffles! ha!)

Continue to roll the brownies until you have none left.

Place your cookie pan in freezer and allow them to freeze at least 2 hours or overnight.

Once frozen, melt your Peanut butter and choc chips in microwave or a double burner.

I used the microwave and heated in 30 sec increments just to make sure I didn't burn the chocolate.

Let it cool just slightly so it doesn't burn you.

I said 1/2 +  cups of PB bc you can add as much PB as you like! I like the slight hint of the PB. It's not overwhelming.

Then take your brownie balls..ha! and place in melted chocolate.

I used a plastic fork to drag the balls out and drain some of the chocolate off. You can def. use your fingers or any method you can think of!

Then place back on your parchment/wax paper.

Continue dipping....

You will have some chocolate left over and you could use it to dip a frozen banana into! YUM! That's a whole nother recipe in itself!

I had some crushed Pecans so I placed some on top of about half the truffles, just to make them even more yummy!!

Now you can either chill them in the fridge for about an hour and let them harden...or dig in now!!

I personally like them chilled but test one out and see what you think!

Ready for the weekend!!

...which starts tonight!!

YAY!! This afternoon, Shane and I are heading up to LA to pick up his parents from the airport. Then, spending the weekend, eating cupcakes, delicious food, siteseeing, star stalking 8), shopping and...you get the point!

I cannot wait!

His parents are spending the next 10 days with us!...Yes, I'm excited but just nervous about all of us staying in our teeny tiney one bedroom apartment!

Oh yea, and I have my work interview on Monday!!

Kool Aid pie!

I'm sure most of you have had this or probably made this...but for those of you have not eaten this...Please make this ASAP! lol So simple and CHEAP!!

Ingredients:

Graham Cracker pie crust

1- 8oz tub of fat free whipped cream

1 can of low fat/fat free eagle brand milk

3/4 package Kool aid of your choice.

(Unsweetened kind...Lime, Lemonade, Pink Lemonade and Orange are delicious!)

Mix Whip cream, eagle brand milk together in large mixing bowl. Slowly add in Kool aid powder...I say use 3/4 the package bc if you add the whole pack it makes it too tart! So slowly add the kool aid and use as much as you like for your tasting.

Pour into pie crust and let it sit in refrigerator at least for an hour.

If you are able to get fat free or low fat...this can be a great low fat dessert!!

Now cut and ENJOY the deliciousness!!

Great for Showers, Potlucks or just to have in the fridge for dessert! :)

1. My go to outfit for a dress-up occasion like a wedding is.... simple cute dress!

2. This week has been...pretty good! I had one interview on Wednesday and I will have another one on Monday!! soooo YAY!! I cannot wait to get a job and start making money!!

3. When it's dinner time and I'm feeling lazy I'll usually eat...a frozen dinner....Or get Shane to cook! lol

4. My favorite pair of shoes are... my flip flops or Toms

5. A random item that I own that is completely unnecessary, but that I could never part with is...random tshirts! I know that I will probably never wear them again but those high school homecoming tshirts have memories...right!?

6. My favorite person is...My husband! I love him soo much!! He is my best friend and I do not know what I would do without him!! Love you baby!! :)

7. If I were going to write my own blank it would say..."If you could go on a shopping spree in any store, which one would it be?" IKEA! I just got the new catalog in and I would love to be able to decorate my house with everything from there!!

One more thing that I'm loving is my new app.

It is awesome!!

Shane and I had a Photobooth at our wedding so of course, I just had to get this app! It's soo cute and you can edit the photos to B&W, 1975, Antique, Color and Sepia. You can also change the border, use your flash, change the strip size...so many options!! :)

So fun and so cute!!

Shane and I both Love Love these english muffins! They are high in fiber and deliciousness! Plus they only have about 120 calories per serving! I add a little butter and homemade strawberry jelly! :)

 

I love this mac n cheese!! SO easy and delicious! You can always add chicken and a little hot sauce and there ya go. You got your Buffalo Chicken Mac N Cheese!

6. My dirty little secret is: I doubled a cookie dough recipe and keep it in the freezer so I can have something sweet when I want it! I eat entirely wayyy too much!! I also can't survive without caffiene....I have to have it! I cannot go a week without visiting Target...Ok...Now you know too much!

7. Something friends might say about me is that I am always ready to do something! Once a friend, always a friend! I will always have their backs!! :)
